A guy named Nathan Grepke took this photo last night: my three kids watching me and the band play. Thanks, sir! I love these three so very much.
Thank you, Nashville friends/family/community for showing up last night. A fine way to end the first official Resurrection Letters tour. (That's Jesse Isley on guitar, Peter Wahlers on bass, Brandon Hays on drums, and Thomas Griffith just off camera on keys.) I don't know what to say other than that I'm so very grateful to God for the band, the crew, the management, the label, the listeners, the friends and family who have locked arms to tell this story together. The good news is so very good. I hope we get to do this next Easter.
Oh, man. Things are about to get ugly. #eucatastrophe
Hey, Nashville! We just confirmed a super last-minute Resurrection Letters show for THIS Sunday, 4/6 at @wellcoffeehouse next to Lipscomb. Full band. Celebrating the resurrection. Bring it. Ticket link in bio. See you there!
One of my favorite things the Rabbit Room does is the Local Show--a regular gathering of wonderful songwriters in the round at the Well Coffeehouse near Lipscomb U. Tonight's show features the legendary Buddy Greene, along with the brilliant Randall Goodgame, the most excellent Christopher Williams, and the amazing Jordy Searcy. (Each of those adjectives is appropriate.) There are still a few tickets left at the Rabbit Room store. See you tonight!
Thus ends a grand weekend of Resurrection Letters shows in the Carolinas. Thank you, Columbia, Greensboro, and Greenville for your kindness. Next up: Birmingham!
Overwhelmed, Greensboro. A woman with terminal cancer sat on the front row tonight, oxygen tank at her side, and raised her hands in praise for most of the show. When we sang "Day by Day" I saw her, eyes closed and smiling, as she sang, "Don't lose heart, though your body's wasting away--your soul is not, it's being remade day by day." And at the end of the show she stood at the chorus of "All Things New" ("Rise up, O you sleeper!") and the whole crowd followed. Her name was Debbi. Pray for her and her husband. I didn't get a chance to talk to her, but she ministered to me and the band just by her presence, reminding us how good the good news about the resurrection is.
Greenville, how I love thee. SUCH a wonderful (and sold out!) crowd tonight. Thanks for letting us celebrate Eastertide with you. (Photo: @jonathan.wunrow)
So I got to drive behind Glamdring today. This Chevy was most definitely elven-made. #JRRTolkien
Such a fun night in CT last night. A great crowd, a great band--I just love singing these songs during Eastertide. Heading to the Carolinas this weekend! #ResurrectionLetters
HUGE high-five to my son Asher on the release of NAMO, his first project! The EP is called Rain (link in bio). He wrote and produced all the music, and invited singers to write lyrics. Those singers include @Skyegirlmusic, Aedan Peterson, Olivia McKaig, and Caleb Kuhlman. It’s so very good, and I’m not just saying that because all three of my kids are on it.
Tomorrow night, New England! So happy to be playing for y'all again. (Yes, I said "y'all.") Details on my website.
